The Center does not discriminate based on personal factors including (but not limited to) race, color, national or ethnic origin, alienage, age, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, political affiliation or philosophy, disability, or veteran's status. The Committee on Diversity was formed in 1996 as a standing committee of the ACP. It serves as a resource for the Center's officers, general members and workshop organizers to help the Center fulfill its goal of increasing participation by scientists belonging to under-represented groups.
The activities of the ACP Committee on Diversity include: (1) Developing policies and guidelines to help ACP committees to be Diversity-aware and ensure that Diversity is considered at all levels of ACP activities; (2) Fostering a Diversity friendly climate; (3) Informing ACP members and workshop participants of issues related to diversity and implicit bias; (4) Ensuring that all major ACP committees include a Diversity coordinator; (5) Periodically assessing the status of Diversity and Climate at the ACP and informing the General Members.
