The Director of the National Science Foundation, the President of the National Academy of Sciences, the Science Director of NASA, the former President of the Royal Society and Nobel Laureates are coming to Aspen this summer to celebrate the 50th Birthday of the Aspen Center for Physics. This quiet institution, hidden in a circle of serenity in Aspen, Colorado, has achieved a position of eminence that is respected worldwide in the study of theoretical physics.

In the past 50 years, more than 10,000 physicists from 65 countries have visited Aspen. Fifty–two Nobel Laureates have attended at least once, some regularly. Directed by physicists, for physicists, the Center's mission is to bring together fine minds in an atmosphere of creative freedom. The National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, the Office of Naval Research, NASA, and dozens of corporate, university, and individual sponsors have supported the Center.
