The management of the Library is based on the assumption that most participants will access online subscriptions through their home institutions, typically using an automatic proxy server. Information about setting up access via proxy server is usually available on the homepage of the institutional library. (For an example, for UC Berkeley, see setup instructions.)
To address the needs of participants who do not have access to electronic collections, the Library maintains subscriptions to a limited number of journals (those with online subscription have links; these can be accessed from any computer on the ACP network):
To improve the access to the electronic subscriptions of the Center, especially for those who do not have their own networked computers, we have configured and installed a dedicated library workstation and printer in the main journal room of Bethe. The home page includes links to the subscriptions, and also access to an electronic document delivery service, Ingenta. The costs for the latter are covered by the Center, the idea being to improve the breadth of journal access for all participants.
If during your stay at the Center you need help with any aspect of electronic access, including use of the library workstation, setting up or using your proxy server, Jane will have a list of a few participants who will be available for assistance.
