Life at the Center
- Bulletin Boards
- Each building has a bulletin board where meeting notices and
other information is posted. Please check it daily.
- Talks
- Schedule of talks for individual workshops are posted on
bulletin boards. We also have colloquia aimed at all participants on
occasional afternoons.
- Cribs, Strollers, Highchairs
- A supply of baby needs is available for your use at no charge.
Please ak a staff member and return all items to the Center before
leaving. Donations are welcome!
- Public Lectures
- The Physics Center sponsors the Heinz
Pagels Memorial Lecture Series, which will offer free lectures
on exciting research topics in physics, and are geared to the
non-scientist public. We also sponsor community outreach events.
If you are experienced and willing to: a) meet with students or
teachers, b) give a public general interest talk on a current topic
in physics, c) give a pedagogical lecture on a physics or related
topic, and/or d) speak to a local service club, please let Jane
know.
- Picnics
- Tuesday evenings at 5:15pm at the Center. Bring your food.
We provide the grills, watermelon, chips, and plates & utensils.
Beer & wine are available for $2 each. Rain or shine!
- Coffee Breaks
- Pastries are available in each building for $1.00 each. Coffe
and tea are free. There is a pop/joice machine in Smart Hall and
water bottles in Stranahan and Smart Halls.
- Lunch
- A mobile food service visits the campus at 12:30 daily. You
may purchase sandwiches, salads, or hot lunches from them.
Delivery service is also availble from area restaurants. Menus are
at the front desk of Stranahan. Orders must be placed by 11:00 and
paid for at that time.
- Payment
- We accept personal checks, travelers' checks, credit cards
(MasterCharge and Visa) and cash. If you choose to pay by credit
card, a 3% fee is added to your bill to cover the cost of
processing. All bills must be settled before leaving the Center.
- T-Shirts, Mugs, Hats, Vests, Picnic Blankets, Hiking Books, ACP Cookbooks
- All available for purchase in Stranahan.
