It is hard for me to imagine a different setting with such a concentration of intellect. What's more, I find it remarkable to have had the privilege to freely discuss physics with the leading figures in the field without the interruption of standard academic duties. I strongly feel that such free scientific exchanges are at the core of the progress in our field.

Life at the Center

Your Aspen Office

Offices are randomly assigned in each of three buildings. Two or three physicists are assigned to each office. It is ACP policy to not assign spouses or physicists from the same institution to the same office.

Bulletin Boards

Each building has a bulletin board where meeting notices and other information are posted. Please check it daily. Each workshop usually has an organizational meeting early in the week followed by two half days of scheduled talks. Some wonder why we don't post Center events online. We hope to avoid public access to our internal calendar and we encourage participants to occasionally part from their computers and visit the bulletin boards!

All participants are welcome to attend, or not attend, any or all workshop talks whether or not they are enrolled in a particular workshop.

Coffee Breaks

Morning pastries are available in each building for $1.00 each. Coffee and tea are free. There is spring water available in Stranahan and Smart Halls. Espresso pods for the espresso machines in each building are available at the Smart front desk for $1.00 each.

A mobile food service visits the campus at 12:30 to 12:40 daily. You may purchase sandwiches, salads, or hot lunches from them. Delivery service is also availble from Taster's – click here for the Taster's menu and from Jing – click here for the Jing menu. Orders must be placed by 11:30 in the Smart Hall lobby and paid for at that time. Please add 30% for tax and tip. Deliveries are made by 12:30 pm in the Smart Hall lobby. Each building has a refrigerator and a microwave for sack lunches.

You will receive a bill for your stay on the Tuesday before your weekend departure. We accept personal checks, credit cards, and cash. All bills must be settled before leaving the Center.

Picnic for all participants and their families at 5:15 pm at the barbecues. We provide watermelon, condiments, chips and dinnerware. You provide grill-ables. Beverages are for sale.
